WHAT IS A CARE ASSISTANT
A care assistant provides a valuable service to those who need it the most. Our team at Horizon Care works with people who are older or may have limitations but who wish to remain living within their homes. They may be able to do that and maintain their independence if they have some support. We provide that support to them.
If you are working as a care assistant, you will work to meet the person’s specific needs. Each person’s needs may differ, but these are typically non-medical needs. You may provide people with the companionship and emotional support they need while also helping them to meet their daily goals around the home.
WHAT DOES A VISITING CARE ASSISTANT DO?
A visiting care assistant works closely with their customers. This includes providing services such as:
Good conversation and companionship:
You may play a game, talk about news topics, or simply engage with a person.
Personal care:
Assist the customer with their needs, including dressing, bathing, and continence care.
Mobility support:
Many times, they need someone to hold onto them when they walk, or you may be able to help them get up and out of a chair.
Medication support:
Provide medication prescribed by a doctor when they need it.
Light household chores:
Help them to keep the home tidy, handle the wash, and keep the home organised.
Prepare meals:
This may include helping with the preparing and cooling of nutritious meals.
Run errands:
From medical appointments to going to do some shopping, many times, customers need some help getting around safely.

Often, each day of work is a bit different as we strive to meet the client’s needs at that moment.
